Home 2011-2012 Coaches Profiles Hobson, Dave
Hobson, Dave

I have been coaching youth sports for the last 15 years. I have coached players ranging in ages from 4 to 18 years old.  I am also a Physical Education teacher and have taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

I am currently the Girl’s Varsity volleyball coach at Clayton Valley. I’ve been in the program for the past 5 years, progressing from Freshman to JV to Varsity.  I have also coached softball at Clayton Valley at both the Freshman and JV levels.

I believe in having a solid team structure.  I believe that good team chemistry can make a good team great, and bad team chemistry can also make a good team only mediocre.  The most important thing I want from my players is hustle and effort.  When we have that, the door is open to developing skill levels, and having healthy competition on the team. Effort can be contagious.

I believe in practicing like it’s an actual game. Don’t save your best effort for a game. If you take practice lightly, you’ll take a game lightly. Give 100% all of the time.

I’m very excited to be coaching Diablo again. Last year was my first year with Diablo, and I had a great time working with a great group of girls. I’m looking forward to another rewarding experience this season.
