| | | Playing Background | | | | | | | | I have been coaching for Diablo since the summer of 2003, and I played for Diablo from 2001 until 2006. I have a great love and respect for this club. I have been blessed to have been coached by many great coaches during my playing career. Many of the things they taught me and the coaching styles they utilized are reflected in my coaching style. | | | | | | | | I began playing for Diablo in 2001. I competed in the Open division of Junior Olympics every season I played. In 2003, my 15- Black team won the Bronze Medal at the Junior Olympics. In 2004, my 16-Black team was in the Gold division of NCVA 18's division all year. In 2005, my 17 Black team won the NCVA 18 Gold Division. In 2006, my 18 Black also won the NCVA 18 Gold Division. During these club seasons, I played in the position of setter, opposite, middle blocker, outside and libero. | | | | | | | | I played at San Ramon Valley High School for Sean Stratton for two years. In those two years, we won 2 EBAL Championships and 2 NCS Championships. We went 32-4 in 2004 and 36-0 in 2005. In 2005 I was captain of that team, won all league honors, and was the MVP of the Beach Cities Invitational tournament in La Jolla, CA. During my high school seasons, I played predominately as a setter and opposite. | | | | | | | | I also played for Sean Stratton on the NCVA High Performance team in 2006 and 2007. In 2007, we had the opportunity to play overseas in Europe. | | | | | | | | I played collegiately at Springfield College for the past 4 seasons where my team won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2008 and 2010. | | | | | | | | Coaching Philosophy | | | | | | | | I love volleyball and want to instill that love for the game in everyone of my players. I want what is best for them, and will do my best to make sure that their experience is a happy and nurturing one. I want my players to learn how to play the game correctly and have a long, exciting, and successful career. Over my playing career, I played every position on the volleyball court, so I feel like I have a strong grasp of many aspects and challenges associated with each position. The main thing that I love is serve receive and defense. The first things I love to teach is the correct way to pass and serve receive. This is the foundation for ball control which is essential at this level and any other level of volleyball. At Springfield, I played under Charlie Sullivan, who has coached with the US Men's National team. I take what he has taught me and applly it to my teams. I like running a college style offense and defense with some variations. This includes running a fast offense: being aggressive as well as smart ; having sound serve receive, defense, and blocking; and most importantly, having strong fundamentals. I want my players to learn how to do things once correctly - the first time, so that as they move up to higher levels of volleyball, they can make the trasition smoothly, and won't have to learn new ways to do certian skills | | | | | | | | Teams: Boys - 14 Black - 2010-2011 | | | | Girls - 14 White - Area league - 2011 | | | | Accomplishments |
